You’ve learned to use the length of a polearm for more than just attacking. Proper spacing, leverage, and defensive positioning make it difficult for enemies to get past your guard.
While wielding a polearm or other long-handled melee weapon, you gain a +1 bonus to AC.
In addition, your reach with that weapon increases by 5 feet. A weapon with a normal reach of 5 feet can therefore attack creatures up to 10 feet away, while a weapon that already has the Reach property can attack creatures up to 15 feet away.
