Something dormant within you has awakened. Your mind and senses now reach beyond the boundaries of ordinary perception, revealing things that were never meant to be seen.
Prerequisite: Intelligence or Wisdom of 20 or higher.
You gain the following benefits:
- You gain truesight out to 120 feet.
- You gain telepathy out to 60 feet.
- Increase your Intelligence score by 1 and your Wisdom score by 1, to a maximum of 24.
- You gain a +5 bonus to your passive Wisdom (Perception) and passive Wisdom (Insight).
- Advantage on active Perception and Insight checks.
- You may automatically perceive the basic surface thoughts of creatures within 120 feet of you if they are unaware of your presence and have an Intelligence and Wisdom score below 15.
- You gain a +5 bonus to saving throws and ability checks made to resist having your thoughts read. A creature attempting to read your mind suffers a -5 penalty to any roll made to do so.
- You gain resistance to psychic damage.
Unbidden Sight
Your heightened perception does not always wait for you to deliberately use it.
The DM may reveal thoughts, supernatural details, visions, or other information that your senses perceive without your intention.
These perceptions determine only what you experience. They do not determine what you believe or how you respond.
While awake, your senses do not lie to you. Information directly perceived through the features granted by this feat accurately reflects what you perceive in the present, though thoughts, statements, and conclusions perceived through those senses may themselves be mistaken or false.
The Other Side
Your awakening has made you perceptible to supernatural forces that normally could not reach you.
While sleeping, you may experience supernatural dreams, memories, visions, or encounters. You may not immediately know whether what you experience is genuine, altered, prophetic, fabricated, or something else entirely.
Entities encountered through these dreams may remember previous encounters/memories and learn from them.
While within one of these supernatural dream encounters, you cannot use any feature granted by this feat against the entity responsible for the encounter. You also cannot make attacks, cast hostile spells, or willingly take any other hostile action against that entity.
The entity may interact with you freely within the dream, but it cannot normally be confronted through physical violence unless the DM determines otherwise.
Dreambound Sleep
During a supernatural dream encounter, your connection to your physical body is severely diminished.
While asleep:
- You cannot perceive the physical world through sight, hearing, smell, taste, or touch.
- Your truesight, telepathy, surface-thought perception, and other perceptive features granted by this feat cannot extend outside the dream.
- Creatures touching, shaking, shouting at, or otherwise attempting to wake you through ordinary sensory stimulation cannot wake you.
- Even pain or sudden physical contact, such as being slapped, does not awaken you unless the DM determines otherwise.
- You remain unaware of what is happening around your physical body until you awaken.
You may awaken naturally when the dream ends or through another method determined by the DM.
Nightmares
Following a particularly severe supernatural dream, the DM may require you to make a Wisdom saving throw.
On a failed save, you gain 1 level of Exhaustion.
During an exceptionally severe nightmare, the DM may instead rule that you fail to complete your Long Rest.
If your Long Rest fails, you do not regain resources that require the completion of a Long Rest, including spell slots, Hit Dice, and Long-Rest abilities.
Dream Hunger
As your awakening deepens, your need for sleep may become increasingly difficult to resist.
Once this effect manifests, you must sleep at least once every 24 hours.
If you go more than 24 hours without sleeping, you gain 1 level of Exhaustion. This Exhaustion is in addition to any Exhaustion gained from failing to take a Long Rest.
Any genuine sleep satisfies this requirement, including Power Nap.
Power Nap
Power Nap functions normally and may reduce Exhaustion caused by this feat.
However, Power Nap counts as sleep and may expose you to supernatural dream encounters.
Power Nap cannot restore spell slots, abilities, Hit Dice, or other resources that were not regained because you failed to complete a Long Rest.
Altered Memory
An entity responsible for a supernatural dream encounter may alter, suppress, remove, fabricate, or implant memories associated with the encounter.
The character may awaken remembering the encounter accurately, partially, incorrectly, or not at all, as determined by the DM.
Such alterations may affect the character’s recollection of events but do not retroactively change what actually occurred.
The character is not automatically aware that a memory has been altered.
