Volstrucker: Ability Scores

Granted by the Volstrucker background

The Soltryce Academy honed your mind long before Trent Ikithon ever noticed you. The order did the rest: years of drills in silent movement, sleight and poison work, and a punishing regimen meant to make sure its agents survived the things they were sent to do. Some agents came out of it a sharpened blade, brilliant in one way above all; others came out evenly tempered in mind, hand and body alike.

Ability Score Increase. Choose one of these options. No score can be raised above 20.

• Focused. Increase one of your Intelligence, Dexterity or Constitution scores by 2, and a different one of those scores by 1.
• Balanced. Increase your Intelligence, Dexterity and Constitution scores by 1 each.

One Set Only. These are the only ability score increases your background gives you.

Builder note (D&D Beyond): for Focused, use the two dropdowns below, choosing only Intelligence, Dexterity or Constitution and a different one for each; the dropdowns list all six abilities. For Balanced, leave the dropdowns empty and add +1 to each of the three in Other Modifier on the Ability Scores page. D&D Beyond also offers 2024 species an "Ability Score Increases" choice on the Abilities page, meant for older backgrounds; with this background, leave that choice empty.
