Once per short rest, instead of merely giving a disadvantage to an attacker's attack roll when they are attack your ally, you may instead leap up to 15 feet towards them (not added towards normal movement) and bear the burden of the attack yourself. If you choose to do this, you also temporarily gain 1 AC* for the turn and reduce the damage dealt to you by 1**d4.
