Prerequisite: Requires a Dexterity score of 13 or higher

You have mastered the whip and can use it in ways others cannot. You gain the following benefits as a result of your training and experience:

  • You gain proficiency in whips if you are not already proficient and they are now considered light in your hands.
  • When you hit a creature that is no more than one size larger than you with a whip on your turn, you may forgo damage and the creature makes a contested check against your attack roll and on a fail, you choose one of the following to happen:
    • Grapple: The creature is grappled and restrained. You do not need a free hand. You cannot attack again with the whip until the grapple ends.
    • Disarm: A weapon or object of your choice the creature is holding is pulled into your space or a space within 5 feet of you. If the weapon or object is held in two or more hands, the creature makes the check with advantage.
Trip: The creature is knocked prone or pulled 5 feet towards you.
  • When you hit a creature with an opportunity attack using your whip, you can force the creature to make a Strength or Dexterity saving throw. On a failure, the creature falls prone. (DC = 8 + proficiency + dexterity)
  • You can use the whip pull objects within reach that aren’t worn or carried towards you with a successful Dexterity (Sleight of Hand) check.
