The Spy is a gatherer of information. He probably started as a common informant, an eavesdropper with a keen ear and sharp eye for salable information, or he may be a minor noble who reports word on his liege's plans to a rival. Many become permanent members of an organization, and freelancers tend not to gain trust very readily. The best spies are talented individuals ready to go anywhere, risk danger, and encounter a lot of excitement on the way to finding valuable information- with the knowledge that to be caught means death.
