Whether you were born with it or acquired it by some other twist of fate, you one of your eyes has been replaced by a draconic eye. This draconic eye gives you access to extra magical abilities but its unnatural power causes an unnatural drain on your individual resources. Draconic bloodline sorcerers or dragonborn may gain a draconic eye by awakening some long lost part of their heritage, but other creatures can only gain a draconic eye through magical or medical means. If you are not a spell caster when you gain the use of the draconic eye, your spell casting ability is dexterity and the number of spells slots available to you are the same as that of a level 1 sorcerer. The draconic eye levels up at the same pace as you do.
When uncovered, your draconic eye grants both passive and active abilities, but you can negate all abilities and prevent any drain on your resources by completely covering or closing the draconic eye.
Passive abilities:
- Your draconic eye grants you Truesight, the ability to see the true form of any creature, objects made hidden or invisible by magic, and can see into the ethereal plane for up to 120 feet.
- Your draconic eye grants you a simplified Detect Magic that allows you to detect the color and intensity of magical auras in your line of sight.
- Your draconic eye grants you a streamlined style of casting that halves the time it takes to cast spells and allows any spell with a casting time of 1 Action to be cast as a Bonus Action.
- Your draconic eye adds your proficiency bonus to your AC.
Active abilities:
- Your draconic eye grants you a Reaction called Mirror Casting. When another creature that you can see casts a spell, you may use your reaction to cast the same spell simultaneously.
- Your draconic eye grants you the ability to remember all the spells you have used during Mirror Casting. When you use Mirror Casting to cast a spell, add that spell to your list of known spells. It does not go against your number of known spells.
Resource Drain:
- For every minute of passive usage, the draconic eye expends a level 1 spell slot or the equivalent of 1 level one spell slot (a level two spell slot equals two level one spell slots, a level three spell slot equals 3 level one spell slots, and so on).
- Mirror Casting expends the same level of spell slot the original caster cast the spell at.
- The draconic eye can convert 5 HP into a level 1 spell slot, 10 HP into a level 2 spell slot, and so on. When converting HP into spell slots, you bleed visibly from your draconic eye. If the HP cost would cause you to go unconscious, you cast the spell first and then immediately fall unconscious, however you are stabilized. If the HP cost would cause you to go under 0 HP by an amount equal to or greater than your HP maximum, you cast the spell first and then die.
