Damage dealt by your vampire bite to humanoids reduces their maximum health by an equal amount.

When you hit a restrained, incapacitated or willing humanoid with your vampire bite, you are healed an amount equal to the damage dealt and remove up to 1 level of Exhaustion caused by starvation from your Thirst for Blood vampire trait.
