Everyone wants a little friend. Be it a furry little cat you've had since you were little, a squirrel you found and befriended, or just an animal that you bought at a pet store. Everyone likes pets, but sometimes the gods attack said pet because its in the way, it dies, and you cry. This feat will allow you to resurrect said companion, allow it small magical capabilities, and tighten that bond you have with the tiny animal.
You have bonded with a pet so closely, and undergone much hardship with it, you gain the following benefits:
- You gain the companionship of a creature such as a house cat, weasel, bird, snake, hyena, or some other animal as a companion.
- This companion cannot exceed a CR of 1/8.
- This companion must be in the Beast category
- This companion must be Medium size or smaller, with exception as per the DM's discretion.
- You have bonded so closely with this companion that you share a limited form of telepathy with it. You, and the companion, may share simple messages with one another at a distance of 60 feet. The animal cannot express past its intelligence, so these messages may be simple warnings or emotions, rather than words.
- If your companion is reduced to 0 hit points, you may revive said companion as a ritual with 15 gp worth of incense. You do not have to have the creature's corpse to do this.
- In combat, the companion rolls its own initiative or has its turn right after its owner's, as per the DM's discretion. You may use a bonus action to command the creature to take the Attack, Dash, Disegage, or Help actions. Otherwise, the creature acts on its own, and can only move and take the Dodge action.
- The companion shares your proficiency bonus, adding it to its hp and all skills when you increase your own. Your companion also has proficiency in all saving throws.
