Those who are tied to beings that control the boundaries between life and death may have this boon granted upon them by their deity/patron.
If you are reduced to 0 HP your spirit manifests itself as an avatar of death. On your next turn instead of rolling a death saving throw your spirit extends itself from your body. You may take your normal turn in combat with the following limitations:
- Your movement speed is halved.
- You cannot take any reactions.
- You may take an action or a bonus action, not both.
- Any damage taken is one failed death saving throw.
During this round if your spirit avatar deals damage to any living creature (excludes undead and constructs) you steal from the life force of the creature. You regain hit points equal to half the damage you deal. If this damage kills the creature you instead regain hit points equal to the total damage dealt. If damage is dealt to multiple creatures at once (e.g a fireball spell hitting multiple creatures) use the lowest amount of damage dealt to one of the creatures for the healing.
If no damage or healing is received your spirit returns to your body and you immediately fall unconscious and must make a death saving throw.
Once you use this boon, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.
