Arcanist’S Duel Image
Prerequisite: Requires the ability to cast at least one spell, proficiency in the arcana skill, as well as access to the Counterspell spell.

You have trained in magical dueling and can do more than just stop an opposing spellcaster.  When an enemy spellcaster casts a spell of first level or higher: you may use your reaction to engage in an arcanist’s duel by casting a spell of third level or higher. Until the opponent’s next turn you are both concentrating on your spells (regardless of whether the spell has the concentration trait).  If one of you loses concentration before the duel is decided, the other wins.  If concentration is not broken, both participants make opposing arcana checks.  If one party is casting at a higher level than the other they gain a bonus equal to the difference in spell levels. (Check= 1d20+Arcana Modifier+Difference between spell levels).  The loser takes 1d6 force damage per level of the spell that they cast, as well as the full effect of the opponent’s spell.  If the winner’s spell requires a saving throw, the save is automatically failed by the loser.
