Insanity/Madness Image

Your character is utterly, completely insane. Whether through contact with otherworldly forces or cursed by a Deity, your character is out of touch with reality. At the beginning of your turn during combat, you must roll 1d20 on the following table to determine what your character does.

  • 1-14: Your character behaves normally (can make attacks, move, take actions).
  • 15-17: Your character stands in place and babbles incoherently (no action).
  • 18-19: Your character is considered frightened and attempts to move as far away as possible from the most immediate and threatening source of danger.
  • 20: Your character attacks the nearest creature (friend or foe).

You suffer disadvantage on Insight, Intimidation, Performance, and Persuasion checks, or any ability check made to understand or communicate with other sentient creatures. However, you don't suffer disadvantage on Deception checks, but only because your character is so incomprehensible. Your slippery mind also has difficulty focusing, and you also suffering disadvantage on concentration checks made to maintain a spell.

This effect can only be ended by a Wish, or Greater Restoration using a 9th level spell slot.

(Note: This feat should only be taken with heavy consultation with the DM, at character creation, and in conjunction with another feat or ability that grants a boon. If the insanity is ever cured, then the associated boon is also removed.)
