You've learned and practiced the best ways to control a trident, as well as how to use it to control your opponents. You gain the following benefits:
- You gain a +1 bonus to attack rolls you make with tridents.
- Whenever you miss an attack against a creature you make with a trident, the target will take piercing damage equal to your Strength modifier (minimum of 1) if your attack roll was no more than 1 lower than the target's armor class.
- Once per turn, when you hit a creature of your size or smaller with an attack with a trident, you can force them to make a Strength saving throw (DC 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Strength modifier) or be grappled and restrained by you for as long as the trident remains in the target's body. If you wish to use the trident to make another attack, you must first remove it from the target. If you are not holding the trident, the target or another creature can remove it as a free action. If you are holding the trident, the target or another creature can attempt to remove it by making a contested Strength (Athletics) or Dexterity (Acrobatics) check against your Strength (Athletics) check. You may use this ability a number of times equal to you Strength modifier (minimum of 1) per short or long rest.
