You can prepare special oils to apply to your blade, coating them in flame during battle. You gain the following benefits:
- When you make a damage roll, you ignore resistance to fire damage.
- You can coat a weapon in oil as a bonus action, instead of an action.
- You gain proficiency with the Alchemist's Supplies if you don’t already have it. With one hour of work using an Alchemist's Supplies and expending 50 gp worth of materials, you can create a number of doses of volatile oil equal to your proficiency bonus. Once applied, the oil retains potency for 1 minute. When a weapon coated in this oil deals damage to a creature, that creature must succeed on a DC 14 Dexterity saving throw or take 2d4 fire damage as the oil ignites, and for the remainder of the duration, attacks with this weapon deal an additional 1d4 fire damage.
