You gain a beast companion that accompanies you on your adventures and is trained to fight alongside you. Choose a beast that is no larger than Large and that has a challenge rating of 1/4 or lower.  Its hit points maximum increases by an amount equal to your character level. Like any creature, it can spend Hit Dice during a short rest to regain hit points.

The beast obeys your commands as best as it can. It takes its turn on its own initiative. On your turn, you can verbally command the beast where to move (no action required by you). You can use your action to verbally command it to take the Attack, Dash, Disengage, or Help action. If you don't issue a command, the beast takes the Dodge action. Only one beast can make an attack on its own initiative/turn that beast is called the 'Primary' all other beasts you have to forfeit your turn for them to attack.

If you are incapacitated or absent, the beast acts on its own, focusing on protecting you and itself. The beast never requires your command to use its reaction, such as when making an opportunity attack.

If the beast dies, you can obtain a new companion by spending 8 hours magically bonding with a beast that isn’t hostile to you, and that meets the requirements. You can make it friendly to you by rolling a d20 higher than or equal to Beast AC (only do during a long rest if you fail the roll during the long rest you have to wait till the next one).

The beast you choose can not have intelligence above 12. You can ride the beast as a controlled mount if it is big enough, even if it hasn't been trained to accept a rider.

At levels 5, 7, 9, 13, 18,19, 20: You gain the ability to choose another creature of 1/4 CR or add CR together (go up a CR each addition) to get multiple stronger creatures.
