You master the use of axes, which includes hand axes, battle axes, great axes and halberds.
- If you take the attack action while wielding those weapons and the opponent wields a shield, you can use a bonus action to try and hook the shield apart. You and the affected enemy do an athletics check. If the enemy loses the contest, the shield is just pulled far enough away for people within melee range to take advantage of the opening giving all within melee range advantage. The enemy can contest you at the beginning of their turns.
- You learn to keep the momentum of your weapon at your favour swing after swing, enabling swifter strikes. When taking the attack action while wielding a hand axe or a battle ax,e, you can use your bonus action to make a melee weapon attack with the same weapon. The attack deals 1d4 damage and keeps the same attack modifiers.
- You learn to use the weight of your weapon at your favour while wielding a great axe, halberd or while using the versatile property of the battle axe. Before making an attack with one of those weapons, you can decide to apply a -5 to the attack roll. If the attack hits, you can use a bonus action to shove the enemy 5ft away. The enemy falls prone.
- You can use the versatile property of the battle axe even while wielding a shield.
