Prerequisite: This feat can only be taken by Gnomes
You are a Gnome and as such you have spent your life tinkering with tools and toys to varying degrees of success. When you craft an item using this feat you may half your cost and time required. However once the item is complete, the first time it is used the user must roll a d20 with no modifiers.
On a 1-8 the item explodes with the force, dealing the user 2d8 force damage (+1d8 for each level of the item above common) and anyone within 10' must make a dex save, taking the same damage on a fail and half on a success.
On a 9-12 the item is non-functional.
On an 13-20 the item works as expected.
The dc of the dex save is equal to the crafting dc for the item:
Common dc13 (2d8)
Uncommon dc15 (3d8)
Rare dc18 (4d8)
Very Rare dc22 (5d8)
