When using an ability that deals lightning damage or when you become the target of an ability that would cause you to take lightning damage, you may use your reaction to become resistant to that damage for this round and gain 25 temporary hit points. Once you do, the gem becomes inactive for 1 week and can neither protect you from Lightning damage nor restore your vitality.
