In Fantasy depictions you always see the brave knight blocking a dragon's breath with is trusty shield, But because of the rules of dnd that was impossible I hope this remedies that, and makes your characters feel just a bit more heroic.

You have grown accustomed to getting in harms way for your friends. While equipped with a shield you can use your reaction to face the center of any area of effect attack and block the attack with your shield, giving you advantage on the saving throw, and making the area behind you in a 5ft wide line safe, nullifying the effect in that space.
