You permanently have the blinded condition. You cannot see and automatically fail any ability check that requires sight. Further attacks rolls against you have advantage and your attack rolls have disadvantage. However, due to a lifetime of adjustment, the following applies:
- You have blindsense for 5 feet. You are aware of the location of any creature within 5 feet of you that is not hidden by magic (as by invisibility) or incorporeal.
- Any attacks against you within that 5 feet do not have advantage.
- Any attacks you make against a target within that 5 feet is not at a disadvantage.
- At the DM's discretion, some ability checks that require sight can be attempted (with or without disadvantage) if hearing could be used.
