Rider take my hand
Er're to roam the land
On mare o' black
'N bloody sack.
Rise my dúlachán.
- limerick excerpt from the Book of Vile Darkness
A blessing to those who sought to escape death and a curse to those who sought it's sweet release; this rite has allowed you to reach beyond the cusp of the realms of living and death, transforming you into the legendary shadow-fae: The headless Dullahan.
As a Dullahan, you are no longer bound to the normal constructs of average senses.
- You can no longer see, smell, or hear anything outside of a 30ft radius but nor can you be blinded or deafened by non-magical means.
- You gain Blindsight of 30ft and can sense all things normally so long as it is not hidden (i.e. hidden weapons, magical auras, etc).
- You can't be surprised while you are conscious and other creatures don’t gain advantage on attack rolls against you as a result of being unseen by you.
- If you have the ability to cast spells, your severed head can now be used as a spell focus and is considered a magical item.
- You gain the Undead tag and are immune to poison. You still require restful sleep, food, and water (to be consumed through the actual head, arcane fire that replaces the head, or forced down the open throat)
Cursed. The head of a dullahan is her most precious possession as it is the source of her power and her greatest weakness. Any damage sustained by the head of a dullahan is automatically critical damage and is inflicted directly to the body. This damage cannot be reduced in anyway and if the head of a dullahan is destroyed, the body is killed outright and can only be resurrected by a Wish or True Resurrection with the remains of the head present at the casting of the spell.
