A second level Bard is known as a Jack of all Trades and with that makeshift skill comes a valid use for their acquired obscure lore. As an action, you may use the Bardic Lore feature to expend one use of your Bardic Inspiration uses to reflect on your collection of stories, rumors, and whispers in an attempt to identify an item, spell effect, creature, location, or other detail if the player can successfully argue that a tale might have been told about it. Roll a d20 plus your Bardic Inspiration die. Neither ability modifier nor proficiency is added to this roll.
You must hit a DC 15 to gain any information, though the information gained is up to the DM. (You may successfully identify that a blade is a Vicious Longsword or you may learn that this is the Sword of Teeth, a blade wielded by the Orcish warlord, Rangmaw, known for leaving decimated bodies in his wake.) Rare or exotic creatures, spells, etc., may require higher DCs to gain particularly useful information, and may be as high as DC 30 for important details like the destruction of artifacts or the true names of archdaemons! This knowledge check consumes one of your Bardic Inspiration uses and cannot be attempted again on the same subject until a new Bard level is obtained.
At the DM's discretion, a DC 10 may result in small hints whereas a Natural 1 (on the d20) may result in misleading information.
