Amethic Crystallodermatitis Image
Prerequisite: A bite from a Crystal Dragon, a curse with this infection from a Shardmind, or a bite or scratch from a Crystal Elemental.

Cursed... you are now cursed... crystals now grow on your skin like acne... it itches... it pains you... and someday, it will consume you...

Crystallodermatitis - A rare magickal curse-like disease that has only three causes and occurs in many forms. It infects the victim with itchy, shard-like, crystalline skin. Or in its rarest cases, it causes portions of the body to transmute entirely into crystals, forming a large crystal appendage in place of a limb(s). Examples of this condition are Amethic Crystallodermatitis (Amethyst Acne). Crystallodermatitis is not contagious, but it can make you feel uncomfortable and self-conscious. Crystallodermatitis is caused by either one of three things: being bitten by a Crystal Dragon, being cursed with the infection by a Shardmind, or being bitten or scratched by a Crystal Elemental. The victim can only contract one strain of Crystallodermatitis based on their DNA. Certain Strains are exclusively found in certain Races, as well as the causes of infection.

Cures & Treatments: There is no known cure. Perhaps the only possible cure of the disease is a wish to lift the curse, however, no results of this have ever been recorded. Many studies have shown that moisturizing regularly with Moon Water (spring water that has been blessed by the light of the full moon for 6 or more hours) helps control the symptoms and further growth of the infection. Treatment may also include magickal ointments, oils, and tinctures that contain black salt, lavender oil, and a powder of the crystal associated with the victim's strain of the infection.

Symptoms: Once infected and if untreated, the victim will start to experience itchiness after 6 hours, dry skin after 12 hours, rough skin after 24 hours, numbness in certain spots on the skin after 48 hours, inflammation and glittery patches on the skin where it is numb after 3 days, crystalline protrusions on the skin where it is numb after 5 days, large crystalline shards forming along the skin in clusters after 7 days. If infected with Diamonic Crystallodermatitis, after 10 days, the victim will start to experience gradual transmutation of the arm(s) into a large diamond spike, accompanied by intense pain, the transmutation takes 24 hours to complete. If infected with Celestitic Crystallodermatitis, after 14 days, the victim will start to experience gradual transmutation of the back, causing huge blade-like crystal wings to protrude out the shoulder blades, accompanied by intense pain, the transmutation takes 48 hours to complete.

Races Who Are Immune: Dwarf, Tiefling, Feral Tiefling, Leonin, Aarakocra, Changeling, Shifter, and Warforged.

Common Nicknames For Crystallodermatitis: Shardskin, Gemskin, Jewel Hide, The Cryst, The Spike, and Rock Rash.

Rules: Crystallodermatitis lowers the victim's Max HP, but gives them an immunity, or even a weapon of some sort, based on the specific strain. If the victim is infected with a strain of Crystallodermatitis, and is cured of it, but then later contracts it again, they will always be infected with the same strain as before, due to the fact that the victim's DNA is what determines the strain that the victim will contract. When any of the three prerequisite-causes happen to the victim, roll for whether they contracted Crystallodermatitis at all. If the victim is infected for the first time, roll 1D12 for which strain they contracted (resulting roll is equal to the strain's value of rarity [shown below]). If the roll results in the number of a strain whose prerequisite is not met by the victim, roll again (EXAMPLE: A Satyr is bitten by a Crystal Dragon, and is then infected with Crystallodermatitis, and the roll for the strain is 12 [Celestitic Crystallodermatitis], they must roll again for they are not a Celestial Race. The Satyr then rolls a 10 [Sapphiric Crystallodermatitis], they must roll again for they have not been cursed with the disease by a Shardmind. The Satyr then rolls an 11 and is then infected with Diamonic Crystallodermatitis.) However, if the victim is of a Celestial Race, only they can and will always contract Celestitic Crystallodermatitis (EXAMPLE: A Half-Dragon is cursed with Crystallodermatitis by a Shardmind, and is then infected, and because they are Celestial, there is no need to roll for the decision of which strain they contract, for they automatically contract Celestitic Crystallodermatitis).
