Your knowledge of the Arcane allows you to ward yourself against attacks that would damage you.

• You learn Mage Armor, which you can cast once on yourself without expending a spell slot. You regain the ability to cast this spell in this way when you finish a long rest.

• You also learn Shield, which you can cast once without expending a spell slot. You regain the ability to cast this spell this way when you finish a short or long rest.

These spells are natural to you now and do not need to be added to your Spellbook, Book of Shadows, Scrolls, or Grimoire to be remembered or used. They do not effect the number of spells you know or can prepare. You cannot use either of these spells when you are wearing any type of armor.
