You have bonded so much with your companion/familiars, you have gained a magical connection with them. 3 times a short rest, as an action you can channel your conscience to your companion animal and control their body for 1 hour or earlier if cancelled. Your body will drop unconscious for 1 hour or the time ends or is cancelled. You gain the full abilities and actions of the animal, eg: dark vision, claw attacks etc. You still get to keep your intelligence, wisdom and charisma scores but you can’t speak or cast spells. Although you can speak with animals of the same type and be spoken to with a speak with animals spell.
If you are unconscious while in animal form, you don’t transfer back to your body until you regain sufficient hp or the transfer ends. If you die in animal form, you go back into your old body at 1 hp.
Ideas of use:
You could use your ability as a scout animal, or as a combat ability. You could also use it for stealth purposes.
