Prerequisite: Requires an elemental bond in Ice
Your elemental companion grows stronger, and the bond you have formed deepens, granting you a reinforced affinity for the cold, and for deductive reasoning.
- Cold calculation and logic give you advantage on Intelligence (Investigation) checks, as well as saving throws to avoid being frightened or charmed.
- Blade of Ice: You may use an action to summon a blade of ice into your hand. You may choose a shortsword, scimitar, or a pair of daggers (one in each hand). Weapon attacks made with the blade are considered magical for the purposes of overcoming resistance and immunity, and inflict cold damage equal to their standard weapon damage. In normal conditions, the blade lasts for 10 minutes; in extreme cold, the blade lasts indefinitely; while in extreme heat, it lasts for a number of rounds equal to your Charisma modifier + 1 (minimum 1 round). When the spell ends, the blade melts instantly. The blade also melts if you dispel it as a free action. You may use this ability once, regaining the use when you finish a short rest. You may also use this ability by expending a 1st level spell slot or higher. When you expend a higher level spell slot to use this ability, the cold damage increases by 1d6 for each spell slot level above 1st.
- Innate Spellcasting: You learn one of the following spells and may cast it once as a 2nd level spell for free, regaining the use when you complete a long rest: fog cloud, ice knife, alter self, find steed, skywrite, Snilloc's snowball swarm, spike growth, . Charisma is your spellcasting ability for this spell. You may swap this spell for a different one from this list when you gain a long rest.
If you select the spell alter self, you may only use the natural weapons part of the spell. When cast in this way, your natural weapons deal an extra 1d4 cold damage.
If you select the spell find steed, the the summoned creature is considered to be an ice elemental, and appears to be made of ice, snow, or similar material. Otherwise its statistics remain the same.
If you select the spell spike growth, the spikes appear as crystal-clear shards of ice.

Posted Jul 24, 2021I have endeavoured to make this feat as user-friendly as possible, and have tried to keep it balanced when compared to official feats. I welcome all constructive criticism and feedback. If you find that a particular point is not clear, or if feel that the balance is off, I hope and ask that you will leave a comment. Nothing excites me more than knowing that something I have designed is being play-tested.
It is part of a collection of feats along the same vein, and I hope that if you enjoy this feat, you will explore the others in the collection. Search Biscuits_of_Rowan for more examples.

Posted Jan 24, 2022If you are enjoying your elemental spirit guide, why not take a look at my related spells? Conjure a steed that runs like the wind or a guardian wolf of liquid fire with Find Elemental Companion. Or, introduce yourself to Sprout, an adorable wood golem with Summon Elemental Golem.
If you feel that something could be better balanced or worded clearer, I am always delighted to receive feedback from play testers, so don’t be shy.
