You form a symbiotic bond with a minor elemental of the Earth, offering insight into the motivations of common animals and assisting you in handling them. You gain the following traits and abilities:
- Animal Whisperer: You gain proficiency in Wisdom (Animal handling) checks.
- You have advantage on Wisdom (insight) checks to understand the motivations, actions and desires of beasts.
- Basic Nature: You may add your Charisma modifier to one Wisdom (Animal Handling) check. You may do so once, regaining the use when you complete a short or long rest.
- Innate Spellcasting: You learn one of the following cantrips: magic stone, mold earth. Charisma is your spellcasting ability for this cantrip.
You learn one of the following spells and may cast it at its lowest level once for free, regaining the use when you complete a long rest: longstrider, jump, earth tremor. Charisma is your spellcasting ability for this spell. You may swap this spell for a different one from the same list when you gain a level.
If you select the spell jump or longstrider, it counts as having a targeting range of self.

Posted Jul 24, 2021I have endeavoured to make this feat as user-friendly as possible, and have tried to keep it balanced when compared to official feats. I welcome all constructive criticism and feedback. If you find that a particular point is not clear, or if feel that the balance is off, I hope and ask that you will leave a comment. Nothing excites me more than knowing that something I have designed is being play-tested.

Please note that this particular feat was originally designed to give an optional skill proficiency, and is thus one of three variations, the others being athlete and mason (for mason's tools). At the time of writing this, there does not appear to be any way to program the necessary options to work automatically with character sheets, and so I have decided to create multiple variations of this feat. If a way to code these options into homebrew feats is added later, I hope to amalgamate the variations into one, neat package.
