Empowered by your oath of service, you are able to intercede on behalf of an ally or otherwise friendly creature that is being targeted by an attack or spell intended to cause immediate harm to the targeted creature.
Given the targeted creature is within your current line of sight and you have enough remaining movement to position yourself between the attacker and the targeted creature, you provide total cover to the targeted creature and instead become the target of the attack or spell. You must be the same size or larger than the targeted creature. If you are smaller, you only provide half cover and do not become the immediate target. You may use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus per long rest.
- This feature uses your movement, not any form of action.
- This feature requires you to have enough movement to position yourself no further than 10 feet from the targeted ally or friendly creature while being between the attacker and the targeted creature.
- This feature can only be used when an ally or friendly creature is directly targeted - and being dealt damage - by the attack or spell.
(Scorching Ray and Magic Missile can activate this feature, but Fireball or Shatter cannot. Spells such as Charm Person also cannot activate this feature).
