Blinding Stab Image
Prerequisite: Requires Dexterity Score of 14 or higher

You’ve begun to master close quarters combat and have mastered your fear of closing the distance. You can grab your opponent and stab at their eyes with a dagger, arrow or bolt (which is lost), or natural claws. Except monks, players attempting this bare-handed have must meet an additional skill check of  DC 15 but can add strength modifier.

  • The creature must make a dexterity saving throw against a DC of 10+ player Dexterity modifier. DC decreases by 5 if creature is two sizes larger.
  • If successful, you take out one eye (player's choice) making the creature roll at disadvantage for the remaining turns unless healed magically to full HP (which re-grows the eye). The DM may allow that attacks from the blinded side impose the condition Blinded. DM may also rule that the creature is Frightened if the same size or smaller. Suggest a Constitution Saving throw of DC 10 at DM discretion.
  • If you are otherwise able to make two attacks, you may make a second attempt for the other eye in the same round. If both (or all) eyes are put out, the creature is Blinded unless healed magically to full HP.
  • All subsequent attempts to put an eye out of any creature in the same round of combat (where the other creatures saw the attack) are a simple Dexterity Saving throw of DC 10 as the element of surprise has been lost.
  • This counts as normal damage (imposing no disadvantage) against aracnoids unless all 8 eyes are put out.
