beginning at first level, you may spend five minutes using a hand axe and rope to create grappling hooks. this special equipment allows you to to throw the hand axe and use it to climb up to where it has latched on to. Throwing this grapple hook takes one bonus action. you gain proficiency
starting at level 5, you can now use this as a weapon. you now add twice your proficiency with the hand axe and can make ranged attacks with them up to 50 feet.
starting at level 10, you learn to throw these hooks with insane grace and skill. when making this attack, you may choose to roll a strength or dexterity check contested by the targets or strength. If you succeed, the target is now considered to be grappled and you may use your reaction to pull them towards you. throwing the axe for the first time in each round now causes you no action to do.
starting at level 15, you gain the ability to use two grapple axes independently. (as in, you may choose to ascend upwards as well as attack with the two independent axes.) throwing both of these axes counts as one action, but requires separate bonus actions to use their abilities. when using this attack, you may now use two damage die instead of one.
starting at level 20, you have mastered the art of grapple hooks. if you throw the grapple hook and the rope still has at least 10 feet left, you may choose to release the rope and allow it to wrap around the target and consider them as restrained.
