You have been bitten by a Vampire or Vampire Spawn and failed a DC 10 CON saving throw. You are now infected with the Hemostasis Disease. You fall victim to the following effects in the order listed below.

Blood Craving. You start being overwhelmed by a craving for humanoid blood after one hour. Every 1d4 amount of days that pass that you do not consume the blood of a humanoid your walking speed decreases by 10 feet. If your walking speed is reduced to 0 in this manner you fall Unconscious. Consuming the blood of a humanoid resets your walking speed, you can consume blood in one of the following ways;

Recently dead: As an action you can drink blood from a creature that has been dead for no longer than three minutes.
Fed Blood: As an action, a humanoid creature can willingly let you drink their blood from a cut or other injury. The creature takes one level of Exhaustion as a result.
Blood Potion: As an action you can consume one 'Blood Potion' (see my homebrew magic item 'Blood Potion' for effects).

Call of Undeath. If your Blood Craving makes you fall Unconscious you must begin making DC 10 CON Saving throws as you would Death Saving throws.

  • With 3 Failed saves you die, and if your body isn't buried within 24 hours you are reborn as a Vampire Spawn with all it's statistics, controlled by the DM. Sprinkling your corpse with Holy water negates this effect for an additional 24 hours.
  • With 3 Successful saves you die. Within 24 hours you are reborn with the 'Undead Vampire' homebrew feat, regardless if you were buried or not (see my homebrew feat 'Undead Vampire' for details).

The effects of this disease can only be cured by the use of a Greater Restoration spell, or drinking an Elixir of Health.
