Half-Sword Adept

You have trained in the arts of unconventional close-quarters combat, giving you new ways to use your sword that may increase your chances of landing a damaging blow.

By calling one of these two techniques before you make your attack roll, you may alter the sword attack according to that option listed below:

1. You reverse your sword and use it as a warhammer, directing strikes with the hilt and/or pommel that replace slashing damage with bludgeoning damage instead, at no change to the weapon's normal modifiers or magical effects applied.
2. You place your off-hand halfway along the blade ('half-swording') to increase your accuracy in finding your target, giving you a +5 bonus to hit but halving the weapon damage dice roll on a successful strike, but at no change to the weapon's normal modifiers or magical effects applied.

Your skill allows you to avoid cutting your hands on the sword blade regardless of which method you use. You may use this skill up to a number of times equalling your proficiency bonus, per long rest.
