Expanded Armor Rules Image

There is now an Evasion Class (EC), Armor Class (AC), and Armor Reduction (AR).  EC and AC creates an armor range.  When a hit die is rolled if it is lower than your EC you will dodge and completely avoid a hit and any damage.  When a hit die is rolled if it is higher than your AC it is a hit per rules as normal.  When a hit die is rolled and it is greater than or equal to your EC and less than or equal to your AC then you are hit but the damage is reduced by your AR.

Thanks goes to The Dungeon Coach and Mr Rexx for coming up with the original concept this is based on.

Evasion Class (EC) - Represents your ability to dodge and avoid attacks.  Your EC is determined by the type of armor you are wearing - or not wearing (in the case of Unarmored).  Consult the Evasion Class Table below to determine your EC.

Evasion Class Table
Unarmored 10 + Dex Modifier
Light Armor 10 +  Dex Modifier
Medium Armor 10 + Dex Modifier (Max 2)
Heavy Armor 10

Armor Reduction (AR) -  Represents the amount of damage your armor absorbs when you are hit in your armor range.  It is calculated by AC - 10 + 2x Str Modifier (Minimum 0)

Alternative ways to increase your EC.

Shields:  Increases your EC by 2 when you have one equipped as well as your AC according to its armor class.

Spells and Abilities:  Any Spell or ability that temporarily increases your AC for less than 2 rounds or 12 seconds also increases your EC.

Feats:

  • Medium Armor Master will increase the possible EC from Dex as well as AC.
  • Defensive Duelist will increase your EC as well as your AC.
  • Dual Wielder will increase your EC by 1 as well as your AC.
