After endless prolific dreams, prayers, selflessness and devotion, your angelic guide is pleased with your abilities and righteousness as their champion, offering a portion of their strength to you as a sign of good faith. Lending their Celestial powers to you lets you gain enhanced abilities to continue to aid those around you, expanding your path of good to a greater distance. Though, as your divine guardian has always preached, you must show your worth before taking the gifts of the Gods.
To use this ability you must roll a 1d20. If you get 10 or more, you gain the following:
- Feeling the surge of otherworldly power run through your body grants you stronger, angelic wings, aiding you to fly farther and faster. You transform beyond the form of your Radiant Soul, gaining glowing eyes and two incorporeal, luminous wings to sprout out from your back, a halo hovering over your head to crown your Celestial lineage. You get a flying speed of 50 feet if size Medium and Large, and 60 feet if size Small due to the small, light frame of the creature. You also shed bright light in a 60 foot radius and dim light 30 feet beyond that.
- Your enhanced Celestial presence dares to outshine the sun, drawing the attention of any ally that can see you, making them immune against the Frightened Condition and giving them a bonus to attack rolls and grants Temporary HP. Any teammate that can see you gain bonus health equal to 1d10+ your Charisma Modifier and a +2 to their attack rolls. This effects ends if the ally is knocked unconscious, downed, or line-of-sight is broken.
- Due to your ever present connection to your angelic guide and shared Celestial blood, your base Darkvision is increased. You can see in dim light within 90 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray. This passively replaces your base Darkvision and does not go away when Aasimarian Ascension has ended.
The ability ends after 2 minutes or you end it as a bonus action. You cannot use this ability again until you complete a long rest.
It is entirely recommended to not use your Radiant Soul ability while Aasimarian Ascension is in use, or vice versa, as you cannot borrow the two abilities from your angelic guide or their powers. Doing so has run the extreme risk of Soul Torsion, where the soul is easily prone to fracture and break, removing your status as a Protector Aasimar and forcing you to be Fallen Aasimar instead, if one survives the ordeal. If one does attempt to use both abilities at once, Aasimarian Ascension will override the Radiant Soul, with these added abilities:
- In addition to increased fly speed, a 1d8 + CHA radiant damage is added to your attack or spell damage.
- Hostile creatures within a 30 feet radius of the player must make a Wisdom saving throw and succeed a 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Charisma modifier or be Frightened for 1 minute.
At the end of each turn, the player must roll a 1d100 for as long as the two abilities is active. If the player rolls their level or lower, their soul is not fractured but they gain 1 exhaustion levels. Any roll above their level, the player fractures their soul through Soul Torsion and reaches 0 HP where they are knocked unconscious. If they succeed all Death saving throws or are healed, then the Aasimar player is now forced into a Fallen Aasimar subrace. Speak to your DM about details on how to restore and regain your soul as well as your previous Aasimar abilities.
If your angelic guide's soul is separated or severely weakened from yours, the ability ends immediately and you cannot use this ability anymore until the angelic guide as regained strength. Having your angelic guide die will also refrain you from using this ability. You must make a pact and connection with a new or revived angelic guide in order to use this ability again, if the connection has been severed by death.
