You are an incredibly energetic physician, allowing you to exert sincere effort after the fight to recover those that others might have given up on.
For a recently Dead person or creature who has died within the last 10 minutes you may exert one minute of full attention and actions to gain for them the following benefits:
- A character, person, or creature who has been recovered in this fashion is not considered to have died in the encounter, but rather to have been on the nearer edge rather than the far side of Dying. They are not actually Dead, at least not yet.
- They have 1 hit point and recover consciousness.
- They have 4 levels of Exhaustion, therefore
- they have Disadvantage on all ability checks (including Initiative, which is normally a DEX check unless feats or class features declare otherwise).
- they Move at half speed.
- they have Disadvantage on all attack rolls and saving throws.
- while they can be healed somewhat their maximum hitpoints stand at half until they have had at least one Long Rest.
- They are also Incapacitated due to brain fog and pain until at least one Long Rest has been acquired.
- They cannot take Actions.
- They cannot take Reactions.
For the wielder of this feat, more than one soul nigh unto dying can be rescued in this fashion, however performing more than (your own CON mod) rescues without a full minute's rest between will result in a level of Exhaustion accrued to yourself. You can always perform at least 1 such rescue.
At the gamemaster's option and under Advantageous conditions the provider of Last Aid may make a Medicine check (DC 10 + half the level of the foe who struck the majority of damage upon the assisted, leading to their likely demise) during a short rest to assist in the relenting of these rough conditions by one effect, selected randomly among the effects which remain out of the six described.
Only one impaired companion can be assisted in such a fashion during a given Short Rest.
Unless the bearer of this feat is an Artificer, this ability does not work on Constructs.
Unless the bearer of this feat is a Druid or Sorcerer, this ability does not work on Elementals, nor upon any other creature that does not breathe in the fashion that humanoids do, and in any case it does not work on beings who become unsummoned.
,This ability does not work on Undead or Aberrations.
People trained in this skill learn some intrinsics about judging deathly injury in a hurry and therefore a situational +2 on Medicine Checks applies to any event unrelated to application of this feat where, if left untreated, the risks include death, unconsciousness, or permanent injury.
