When summoning a familiar, the warlock can imbue the familiar with a small shard of the warlock's essence. If imbued this way, the warlock can cast any spells with a range of "self" on the familiar as if the range was "touch" instead. If the spell requires concentration, the warlock performs the concentration. When a familiar is imbued this way, any damage that the familiar takes is also dealt to the warlock (after all damage immunities and damage reductions are applied) but any excess damage is ignored.

Posted Dec 27, 2021The Pact of the Chain path for Warlock seems to focus around the use of a familiar. This invocation allows that concept to be expanded upon by allowing the warlock to cast self spells on the warlock's familiar. Using this invocation follows all of the casting rules a normal except the range is expanded to "touch" for the warlock's familiar only. The warlock still must meet all prerequisites for the spell, the warlock still expends a spell slot to cast the spell, and if the spell requires concentration then the warlock must still maintain concentration.
