Fiendish Possession Image

Summary

You are the vessel of a CR 6 or lower fiend, selected at either character creation or when this feat is selected.

POSSESSION LEVEL

A possessing fiend is not an idle passenger, but actively seeks to gain control of your character's body and mind. A possessed character must be vigilant, countering and suppressing the creature's influence on their person. When not actively suppressed, or if allowed to by the player, the creature will slowly gain control of the character. It's influence is measured in six levels. Each level of possession confers to the character both benefits and penalties. A character suffers the effect of its current level of possession as well as all lower levels. A character may, at will, jump immediately to any possession level.

Without intervention, a character gains one level of possession on every long rest.

REGAINING CONTROL

At Possession Level 5 or lower, you can lower your possession level by one Possession Level by:

  • Spending four (4) hours concentrating and at rest.
  • Contesting the creature's Constitution with your own, and succeeding by 5 or more on the roll.
  • Spending one (1) hour at rest within consecrated ground.

At Possession Level 6, when the creature reaches 0 hit points, and fails 1 death saving throw, your Possession Level is lowered to Possession Level 5.

CHARACTER DEATH

When you reach 0 hit points, and after failing 1 death saving throw, you gain Possession Level 6, and the creature resurrects with half its maximum hit points.
