You stand watch over a companion, attempting to shield them from incoming damage.
As a bonus action on your turn, you can take a defensive stance over an ally within 5ft of you. Until the start of your next turn, all attacks made against that ally are made with disadvantage. If an attack is successful, the attack is a critical hit, regardless of the dice roll. However, you may choose to take the damage of that attack, no action required. If you take the attack, the creature that attacked must roll damage as normal.
