You've spent years muddeling through and somehow managing to get out on top, most of the time.
When you make an abilitycheck using a tool or a skill you do not have proficiency bonus, you can first make a DC15 Inteligence (History) check. On a success, you can add your proficiency bonus to the initial ability check. Yoiu can use this feature a number of times equal to your Inteligence modifier (a minimum of once). You regain all expended uses when you finish a short or long rest.
