Your love of beasts and critters grants you the ability to befriend them and protect them from effects that would otherwise kill them. Whenever you finish a long rest you can strengthen your connection with one of your skittering allies.
When you do so choose a` friendly creature without any class levels whose intelligence score is four or lower. Until the start of your next long rest they gain the following benefits:
- They gain proficiency in one skill, tool, or weapon that you are proficient in.
- They act on your initiative and you may use your bonus action to control them in combat.
- Whenever they take damage within 10 feet of you, you may choose to take the damage instead.
- They may add your proficiency bonus to their armor class and saving throws.
