Through your extensive use of magics you have developed an increased understanding of the way that your spells interact with the fabrics of reality. This understanding can be utilized in the creation of a much improved spellcasting focus. You must assemble the focus yourself using materials worth at least 100gp. In addition, the types and sources of the materials used in the creation of the focus are important. A completed improved spell focus can be substituted for any component, including ones that are normally consumed, up to half its worth in value. For example, a 100gp improved focus could be substituted for a 50gp diamond needed to cast chromatic orb and a 600gp spell focus could be substituted for 300gp worth of diamonds for a revivify spell. This usage does not destroy the spell focus.
The base components of the focus need to contain a mixture of items symbolizing the four primary elements. The best materials for this portion of the construction will come directly from the Elemental Planes themselves, but in lieu of that:
- Earth: This element can be represented by items such as stone or metals from deep in the earth.
- Fire: This element can be represented by items such as gemstones, obsidian, or pumice stone
- Water: This element can be represented by items such as coral, fish scales. or salt distilled from seawater.
- Air: This element can be represented by items such as leaves from the top of a tree, feathers, stones from the peak of a mountain.
