Prerequisite: Changeling
Through years of practice, you have developed the ability to alter your form in beneficial ways. You are able to selectively modify your body to allow you to improve certain statistics and abilities. You may select no more than one of the following at a time--all of them reveal your identity as a changeling to anyone observing you.
- Lengthen and strengthen your legs/expand your lung capacity - increase your base speed by 10, advantage on Con checks or rolls vs exhaustion due to running.
- Choose one of vision or hearing - gain advantage on perception or related rolls using the selected sense, and disadvantage on rolls using the other.
- Lengthen your arms - gain Reach for melee combat, lose any dexterity bonuses to AC.
- Choose one of Strength or Dexterity - gain a +1 modifier to the chosen ability, suffer a -1 modifier to the other.
- Create webbing on your hands and feet - gain swimming speed equal to your base movement rate, provided your hands and feet are uncovered.
- Extend and strengthen your fingers and toes, lengthen your arms and legs - gain a climbing speed equal to your base movement rate, provided your hands and feet are uncovered.
- Extend and narrow your torso and head - gain the ability to squeeze into spaces restricted to Small (but not Tiny) creatures.
you say you can choose one ability at a time, would it be an action to change from one to another or would it require some sort of rest, or is it more permanents and you choose one for always?
Good questions, I could have been clearer. The idea is that each one is an option you can take when you use the Change Appearance racial trait. So each one costs an action--the same action that you use to Change Appearance. For example, if you are appearing as an Elf, you take one action and can now appear as a Human, but with webbed feet and hands. You just make those changes to standard 'human' at the same time.
If it were to be an issue where that seemed abusive, it could be made into an extra action, I suppose--one action to change to human, one to pick the option from this feet. But I really don't see Change Appearance as a game-breaking feature in the first place.
And the idea is that you'd be able to select any of these whenever you wanted--the feat represents your gaining of a finer level of control of your ability to shape change.
awesome, thanks for the fast reply :)
