Prerequisite: Requires a Dexterity score of 13 or higher
When you take this feat, you gain the following benefits:
- Choose one weapon that lacks the heavy or two-handed properties. Your extensive training with that weapon allows you to choose between using your Strength or Dexterity ability when wielding this weapon, as if it has the finesse property. Versatile weapons may be wielded only when one-handed; when switching to a two-handed wield to increase the damage die, the finesse property no longer applies.
- You are capable of parrying blows with swift movements of your blade to not only protect yourself, but others around you. When a creature makes an attack against you, you may use your reaction to add half your proficiency bonus (rounded up: minimum; 1) to your AC until the start of your next turn, potentially causing it to miss. If an ally creature within your melee range from you is targeted with an attack, you may use your reaction to add half your proficiency bonus (rounded up: minimum; 1) to their AC until the start of their next turn, potentially causing that enemy's attack to miss.
- Before you make an attack with a finesse weapon that you are proficient with, you can choose to take a −5 penalty to the attack roll. If the attack hits, you add +10 to the attack’s damage.
