Prerequisite: Requires proficiency with shortswords or longswords
Your proficiency with swords and a shield give you a unique control of battlefield engagements. You gain the following benefits while you are wielding a sword and shield:
- If a creature within 5 feet of you attacks you, you can use your reaction to make an opportunity attack to attempt to shove the creature with your shield or you may move 5 feet, which does not provoke opportunity attacks.
- You can reduce your speed by half until the end of your turn. If you do so, all opportunity attacks have disadvantage on you and you have advantage on Dexterity saving throws until the start of your next turn.
- If you are wielding a shortsword, you can make a single attack with it as a bonus action.
- If you are wielding a longsword, after you shove a creature and choose to move them, you can immediately move up to half your movement speed until you are within 5 feet of them and make a single melee attack against them. This movement does not provoke opportunity attacks.
