Prerequisite: Proficiency in Animal Handling

You gain a beast companion that accompanies you on adventures and is trained to fight alongside you.

Choose a medium or smaller sized beast that has a challenge rating of 3 or lower.  You must perform a 1 hour bonding ritual with the beast, gaining its trust and becoming one.

Add your proficiency bonus to the beast's AC, attack rolls, and damage rolls, as well as to any saving throws and skills it is proficient in. Its hit point maximum equals its normal maximum or six times your primary hit dice, whichever is higher.

The beast shares your initiative count, but takes its turn immediately after yours.  You and the beast share a telepathic bond, in which you may communicate within a range of 120 feet.  You decide what action the beast will take and where it will move during its turn, or you can issue a general command, such as to guard or attack a target. However, the beast will only follow general commands in the crudest of fashions.  If you issue no commands, the beast is too far out of range, cannot hear/see you, or you fall unconcious, the beast will only defends itself against hostile creatures to the best of its abilities.

You may command the beast to use either the attack, dash, dodge, disengage, or hide action on its turn.  If using the attack action, the beast may make only one attack on its turn.  It may not use the multiattack action if it has one.  The beast may make 2 attacks per action starting at 11th level and its attacks now count as magical for the purpose of overcoming resistances.

The beast may use its bonus actions, reactions, or any special actions it may have as normal.

If the beast dies, you can obtain other one by spending 8 hours magically summoning the beast to your side again, either as the same type of beast as before or a different one.  The beast cannot change unless it is slain or released over the period of a long rest.

If you are a Beastmaster, Drakewarden, Battlesmith, or any other class with an animal companion of any sort as a class feature, the two beasts may coexist and your original may benefit from any buffs granted to the beast gained by this feat, but they may not stack with any granted by your class. Any abilities granted by your class are extended to the secondary beast as well.  You may command both companions at once using any features granted to you through both this feat or your chosen class.
