You function best when left to your own devices. When in the absence of allies or social pressure (DM's discretion), you can gain advantage on ability checks a number of times equal to your proficiency modifier. You regain all expended uses after a long rest.

Conversely, the pressure of working in a group sometimes gets to you. Once per short or long rest, the DM can impose disadvantage on an ability check when your character is operating under societal pressure, such as at a social event or with someone watching them work.
