Interestingly, even though I've DMed for years, I never had an elven rogue...all the rogues were tabaxi or tieflings or halflings (and that one gnome).
Jack, that is very strange. And a horrible overgeneralization. Not all cults are bad. Some are quite polite and friendly! Not that I'm part of any ... in character or out. Have you noticed how bright the sun is today?

Hi, I am not a chest. I deny with 100% certainty that I am a chest. I can neither confirm nor deny what I am beyond that.
I used to portray Krathian, Q'ilbrith, Jim, Tara, Turin, Nathan, Tench, Finn, Alvin, and other characters in various taverns.

I think Jack meant that cults being bad is a stereotype, exactly the point you were trying to make.

All stars fade. Some stars forever fall. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Homebrew (Mostly Outdated):Magic Items,Monsters,Spells,Subclasses ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If there was no light, people wouldn't fear the dark.
I'm currently involved in three campaigns where I play a Mountain Dwarf Drake Warden, a Mountain Dwarf Eldritch Knight/Twilight Cleric and a Half Elf Tempest Cleric. My next character is going to be a Goliath Gloom Stalker or a Gnome Barbarian I think. I like doing split classes because you have to be creative and if we are honest life is rarely a straight path. My first IRL job was in fast food, then I joined the Marines, and since I've done a variety of different jobs. I may never be good at one job as some but when things get spicy I have a big bag of tricks to reach into.
One cliche I keep running into is the fact that the Rogue always seems to stealth away from the party so they can do some shady deals and get money for their stolen goods. It's not one that I have a problem with, it's just an odd coincidence that most of the Rogues that I have seen (or played, for that matter) tend to do that.

Has anyone else noticed how full of clichés and stereotypes D&D is?
For example:
- Gnome Artificer.
- Tiefling Warlock of the Fiend.
- Aasimar Paladin.
- Wood Elf Ranger.
- Dwarf Cleric.
- High Elf Wizard.
I now realize that I just listed all the characters in one of my campaigns. (That campaign ended badly.)

Good point.
