The Gut. It's been running for centuries. Part prison, part hotel, part factory, and part submarine, it's unclear who built it or why. It has six layers, all of them awful in their own right, and yet people still come there for some reason. Maybe it's boredom, a desire for something new. Perhaps it's an attempt to escape the madness outside. Regardless, welcome home.
The decks are as follows:
1: Sunlight Deck
Where the guests reside
A strange sort of adult theme park/city, the Sunlight Deck is where everyone aspires to go one day. Comfy rooms, fun attractions, and lots of gambling make this deck a veritable carnival for the rich and mighty, but the real attraction is the food. Prepared right below deck and fresh as you can imagine, the Gut has a specialty on meat of all kinds. Everyone loves the food served here. Everyone.
If you choose to start as a guest, you start in the Whalebone Inn, a place where servants and elite guests go to drink and relax.
2: Twilight Deck
Where the servants reside
Below the Sunlight Deck, the Twilight Deck gets plenty of natural light through windows. Tours go through here quite often, showing the guests the kitchens, washrooms, and servant quarters at their leisure. Many of the ships's day-to-day operations take place here, excluding navigation of course. Most servants are chefs or ship attendants, but there are a couple of engineers and guards dotted about as well.
If you choose to start as a servant, you start at the Whalebone Inn as well.
3: Midnight Deck
Where the prisoners reside
Down below the welded-shut windows lies the prison, where saints and sinners alike are sent to process the meat and fish coming in. They say that eventually when your sentence is up, you are given a fine meal and are allowed to leave... but most prisoners believe that those who "leave" are fed into the grinders and cooked up with the rest of the meat. Some prisoners are sent down to the lower decks to repair important parts, but some think that's a worse fate than being "freed." This deck is partially lit by electric lights.
If you start as a prisoner, you start in the Rotten Maw, a tavern serving cheap booze and the meat and fish processed earlier that day. Or night. There is no sun down here, so no one knows anymore.
4: Abyss Deck
Where the monsters reside
Partially flooded, this deck is filled with strange beings that process the belongings of those who die above. Furnaces roar, conveyors move piles of fish and jewelry, and machines of unknown origin and purpose run eternally in the near pitch-blackness of the Abyss deck. The monsters that live here have likely never seen the light of day, and probably wouldn't care to.
5: Hadal Deck
Where the unknown resides
Down, down, down, down, down. Important parts of important machines lie untouched and submerged. Whatever supernatural power keeps the engines running is strong here, warping the construction immensely and causing it to rearrange itself when not observed. The Hadal deck has a strange and malevolent intelligence, which alone is enough to drive anyone mad within minutes.
6: Challenger Deck
Where the Captain resides
Does not exist. Please do not look for the Challenger Deck.
Rules:
Be kind to each other. Do not bully other players, and try to keep arguments to a minimum.
Respect the Gut. You really, really do not want to upset the Captain and the Deep Crew (the mods).
Please do not use overly vulgar language (such as repeated swearing or the f%&@ word). I will give you one reminder if this rule is violated.
Please go easy on quote chains for ease of mobile users. If someone has very long chains, please let them know in a respectful way.
Keep it PG-13. You can have brief stints of scary, gory content, as long as it's kept in spoilers. No sexual content.
A young adult around 24 is strolling around the sunlight deck. He has a business suit on and combed black hair. He clearly takes pride in his appearance.
A man is sitting in the tavern eating a raw fish, scales and all. He wears a tattered hat and ragged robes shorn off at the ankles. His age is difficult to determine, due in part to the black beard that hides most of his face. His features seem weathered, but his eyes shine with youthful energy. The oddest thing about the man is his right arm — rather than the humanoid arm one might expect, this man’s arm is an enormous crab-like pincer.
A young man is trying to sell dead rats as food. He wears a red glove over his left hand, and his boots are speckled with blood. He has a slightly nervous look on his gaunt face
From the Twilight Deck is a huge warforged worker, employed as a mechanic and guard. On both of his shoulders, his name DAISY is printed out in green letters. Daisy is built like a club bouncer, essentially. He stands off to the side, waiting to assist any guests in anything, such as carrying luggage.
*edit: have some art that kinda looks like Daisy:*
The man walks up to Daisy, “Hello, I’m new around here. Do you know where the living quarters are?”
The electric eyes stare back at the man. "....um. No. Let me ask Steven." The big mechanical being lumbers off, and comes back after about 3 minutes. "The Deck above, sir. Would you like assistance in anything else?"
