I'm currently playing with a human Artillerist Artificer and kicking around some ideas to maximize the number of offensive action I can take in a turn, already utilize double tap just looking for something that will let me either throw more damage down range or increase the number of actions I can do each round without using a spell slot. Keep coming across multi classing as a warlock or a bladesinger wizard, really want to see what other ideas people have as I'm still very new to DnD.
Get yourself a +3 All-purpose tool and learn Eldritch Blast with it. At Artificer 9 you can make 2 attacks with it and you bump up to 3 at lvl 11 all while using Intelligence as the damage modifier plus what you're pumping out of your Eldritch Cannon as a bonus action. No multi-classing required.

I might suggest multi-classing into a Fighter/Battle Master. You get a fighting style (like Archery to add a bonus to hit on ranged weapon attacks) at level 1 and Action Surge (extra action 1x per short rest) at level 2. At level 3 you can pick up the Quick Toss maneuver and have 4d8 superiority dice per short rest.
Quick Toss
As a bonus action, you can expend one superiority die and make a ranged attack with a weapon that has the thrown property. You can draw the weapon as part of making this attack. If you hit, add the superiority die to the weapon's damage roll.

What is giving the INT to damage with the Eldritch Blast?
Eldritch Blast normally doesn't add any Ability to damage. Warlocks only get CHA to damage if they take the appropriate Invocation.

I think they meant casting modifier rather than damage; normally the only way to learn eldritch blast is to take the Magic Initiate (Warlock) feat, or multiclass as Warlock, but in both cases that would tie the casting modifier to Charisma.
You could still benefit from Arcane Firearm for an extra d8 damage on one of the hits, though your arcane firearm needs to be something other than the all-purpose tool (since it's not a rod, staff or wand) but since the tool simply grants you the knowledge of the cantrip it doesn't matter how you actually cast it.

He makes a compelling case for taking a couple levels of Wizard, as it really boosts spell slots, and at later levels, you get access to 6th level spell slots.
With your Arcane Firearm, you can upcast Fireball at 6th level for 10d6, plus the 1d8 from the Arcane Firearm, and follow it up with your Force Ballista for another 3d8.
It also give you some much needed extra cantrips and other spells.

Artificers are stronger when they don't multiclass. You gain more from taking more classes in Artificer than by multiclassing.
As Lostwhilefishing says, I would stick to Artificer.
However, if you wanted to try something fun/different, why not a school of evocation Wizard?

That sounds like a fun time
