I made a similar thread in the barbarian, and I think I'm going to create one for each class. Anyways, which college, in your opinion, is the worst one? I don't actually have a strong opinion here, so I'm wondering what various arguments might be.
I actually think each of the Bard subclasses has merit to some degree; just for specific purposes.
Ultimately, I went with “College of Whispers” Bard as the “worst” subclass…but really, it’s just because it’s the most niche subclass.
The psychic blades they get for their weapon attacks are actually a pretty great damage boost; and made available to them early.
The rest of their features, though, are based around infiltration & causing fear…and the circumstances around these features require a certain kind of social campaign.
Spirits is hard to justify IMO. Guidance rarely needs range if it's precast like it's supposed to. The 6th level features sound good but in the end is limited in options. The randomness to tales is less fun than other classes that do similar unknown benefits subclasses.
